You have just found out you and your spouse are going to have your first child. Now that the initial excitement has worn off, there are more questions than answers. One of your biggest concerns is how to find a good daycare. There are several options out there for parents, so look around and see what is best for you and your child.

The beginning of the day care movement originated with the welfare and reform movements of the 19th century. Today, parents have several different options when choosing childcare. There are Non-profit, for-profit and corporate childcare day centers. Many parents are fortunate enough to have a balance between day care and having their children looked after by a relative. According to government statistics, 23 percent of working parents employ “multiple arrangements” for childcare—and signs indicate this is a growing trend.

By the age of three, your toddler will have developed around 1,000 trillion connections between the cells in her brain, which is around twice as many as the average adult. The right day care providers will be able to grow your children personally and make sure they get enough exercise. Good daycare can provide different experiences than parental care does especially when children reach two and are ready to interact with other kids. Studies show that children in higher quality childcare have somewhat better language and cognitive development during the first 4 1/2 years of their life than those in lower quality care.

Some parents are lucky enough to not have to worry about spending a lot of time finding the right day care options. More than 80 of the companies in Working Mothers magazine’s “Top 100 Companies for Working Mothers” offer some form of corporate child care to their employees. Many working parents face challenges including lack of free places in public pre-schools, inappropriate schedule or expensive services of child care. Corporate child care programs can address these issues. Employer sponsored childcare may increase employee loyalty, decrease maternity leaves and improve on-job concentration.

After becoming a new parent you must figure out several questions including how to find a good daycare. A daycare can help your kids improve their cognitive and physical growth. Find the right daycare for your children and put them on the path to success in life.
